Woo hoo, i may have made progress! I've actually just got of the phone to an advisor who agrees that i'm doing all the right things to find a job! Saying that she did inform me that i would have to cut down the voluntary hours to 9 hours, which isn't too bad, just means i have to give up one day at work. After ringing college and discussing this with my tutor, she tells me that it's compulsary to do only 6 hrs a week, but 15 is a target lol!

your first post is a bit misleading you say you are doing voluntary work as part of your course, then you go on and say you get minimum wage for the hours you do, then it is not voluntary work then?

which i feel has confused me and others as you can only work for set hours and earn set amount, voluntary would not be the case.

    Hi Mup

Was confusing for a while but worked out OP is doing an NVQ through college (4hrs) and was doing 15 hours work placement.. adding up to 19 hours, came off IS and onto JSA but was told by single parent adviser this would be fine (urgh!!)

It is voluntary, but the JC were not going to treat it as voluntary and assume that i got paid 15 hrs at the minimum wage!
