Speak to your course providerand ask them can you reduce your vocational hours to 9 plus 4 in the classroom.

    This shouldn't be a problem.

By the way who enrolled you for this course, was it a single parent adviser by any chance...or did you find it yourself.

I found it, i didn't want to sit on my backside any longer. I wanted to do something for me and help me get of benefits. I started it when in receipt of IS, was told it would be fine to continue when switched over to JSA as long as i stated that i would give it up if suitable work came up.

So if i quit the course and the voluntary work, sat on my bum all day and put in some random comments on the book saying i looked in the job paper then i'd be accepted for JSA??

Probably, yes. Although technically you would have to actually be seeking employment.

If you are asking for JSA whilst on a college/traininng course, you still need to be actively seeking work and need to be readily prepaerd to give up the course to start work.

    It's jobseekers's allowance, not college-studiers-allowance-so-I-can-get-a-better-job-alllowance.

You need to quote this and who told you in your appeal.
Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.

I am actively seeking work, as i said in a previous post, i'm applying for jobs, i had an interview, was declined due to lack of experience, i have even given them a copy of this to prove that i'm applying and attending interviews. I've also stated i'll give up the course if a job comes up!

I think it's a disgrace how you've been treated and the frustration you must be feeling but unfortunately if doing a course for over a certain number of hours, lets say 16 they would class as not meeting the jobseekers agreement as i suppose they expect you to be looking for work full time.....

Given wrong advice from a JCP front line worker is not unusual i'm afraid, it does take years to take in all regs about different benefits.

Do state this persons name in another letter for the decision maker to consider

Reduce the total hours so they are up to 16 hours.

You are doing a lot of voluntary hours & the organisation/course should go out of it's way to accomodate your circumstances.

I'll speak to them, but will speak to the JC first to see if it will make a difference!

    Thanks :)
