    The comment:

challenges the OP's ability to manage credit and is a gross over-simplification of the complicated, arbitrary, conflicting, and incomplete lending criteria used by different card issuers (or even for different cards issued by the same card issuer).

It is definitely not true that anyone who is declined or has credit withdrawn is necessarily a poorer credit risk than someone who is accepted. It's just more likely that you will be declined if you are a poorer risk.

You then said MORE likely they would decline you if you were a poorer risk, but for barclaycard to work out if the OP was a poorer risk would of been done through credit scoring surely.

What was trollish about that its true, barclaycard have accepted the OP then on additional checks the OP's credit rating(criteria) have been unsuccessful.

Just because they withdrew the account doesn't mean there was any problem with OP's rating.

"Criteria" could refer to any number of different things - they might not have been able to get hold of his employer to verify his employment status / income.

When I first got a Barclaycard years ago it stopped working one day and when I called to establish why it's because the contact they got through to at my employer said they'd never heard of me without bothering to check.

Thankfully in that instance I was able to send them my contract of employment confirming what I'd said but I feel now a lot has changed at Barclaycard they'd just close the account now like they did with OP.

OP already passed the credit score. "Criteria" in this instance is an ambiguous term, which we cannot assume to mean the same as "Risk" or "Credit Score".

No you are saying the OP passed the credit score that is just speculation, their could of been a CPU glitch what is going on down at barclays.

They wouldn't have calculated what the credit limit can be without doing a risk and affordability analysis.

A limit of #8,600.00 was decided upon therefore a risk and affordability analysis (credit scoring) was done.

    Simples :o

Now tell me WHY the OP was then declined then if his credit rating was so spot on, and then we will leave it at that??

Did you read my previous post?

None of us can be certain as to why the OP was declined; we can only assume. Nor can any of us be certain it was or wasn't due to his credit score.

All I am saying is that Criteria is a very all encompassing term and it could simply be that they couldn't verify his income, or his time on the ER doesn't tie in with how long he's lived at his address, or Barclaycard now consider his profession to be one at a high risk of redundancies, any number of things that we can't be sure about, but aren't to do with his ability to handle credit responsibly.

No I didn't read your previous posts as sometimes they take to long to read.

A lot of people seem not to good at reading. They weren't declined, they got to the stage of receiving a card which surely means they PASSED the credit scoring criteria. For some an inexplicable reason the account was then immediately closed. This speaks more of chaotic administration and moving goalposts at Barclaycard than it does for anything about the OP. I suspect our friends in Mumbai may be involved.

Barclaycard seem to have gone a bit silly, many people are getting this accpeted and declined thingy.
