Good evening: good spec but no replacement roomstat mentioned and tanks left insitu. Is the new boiler going in the same location? Where are you in the UK?

Always get 3 quotes from RGIs recommended to you by a source you trust and compare like for like.

Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)
  • Thanks Canucklehead. The boiler will go into the kitchen, an adjoining room. We are in East Anglia. I am waiting for more quote but it would be great to have a benchmark.

  • Try and get a sole trader and not a ltd company aswell, not VAT to pay.

Try and get a sole trader and not a ltd company aswell, not VAT to pay.

Small Ltd company may not charge VAT either, whereas a sole trader like me does charge VAT.

VAT doesn't make that much difference in the big picture as some of it will be at 5% and if someone is not VAT registered you will only save the VAT on their labour.

I think that price is a bit over the top though. A wild approximation, as one cannot see the job, would be around £2600 + VAT.

I would say - rough guide given a family member is in the trade £2500 all in for a new boiler. Depends on piping/placement etc etc.

    5t.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

I paid £3,280 for having old gas fire and back boiler removed and replaced with Worcester Bosch combi boiler. Old tanks also removed. Flue went up through the roof. All radiators replaced with thermostatic ones and put in a diffferent positions (3 beds, cloak, bathroom and bottom of stairs, lounge, kitchen/diner). All new piping and then flushed. Digital timer. Very neat and tidy work.
