Zanussi - who's right?

Long story short.
Bought oven 18 months ago. Last night broke the glass in the door. Rang Zanussi for replacement. "We don't have them because the company that makes them has gone out of business, sorry"
We asked if they were not legally obliged to hold a stock of replacement parts, they replied "No"
They then offered us a £900 oven for £280. When we said no they then dropped to £200 including delivery and fitting.
Our other choice is to claim on insurance costing £100 excess and losing no claims bonus.
So the question is - are Zanussi in the right or not? We admit we are the ones who broke it but are not impressed we're being asked to fork out £200 when average cost for replacement glass is £60.
Any ideas?
Thanks

So the glass which you can't get us £60, and they're offering a brand new oven including delivery and fitting even though you broke the old one?
Sounds like Zanussi are doing far far more than they should! One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -

Zanussi are right and your lucky they are cutting you such a good deal..grab it and thank them.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Ignore that
Make sure whoever didn't break the door does the cooking. Some industries are obliged to keep manufacturing parts. The automotive industry is a good example. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
