BT charged £130 and they won't listen

    good point. Although the socket has been there 25+ years I don't know how long it could be for the problem to recur.

    only just found the energy to ring again

    got put through to a supervisor who stated that the charge still stands. The only time you wouldn't be charged is when the fault is outside the property, everything inside the property is customer's responsibility.

    I told him that this socket was installed by them over 25 years ago. He said it didn't matter 1 day or 100 days, everything inside the property etc, so I said I could have just gone down the DIY shop and replaced myself ? Yes
    Of course, I couldn't at that stage as I did not know what caused the fault, wish I had investigated master socket further myself.


    I don't remember reading anywhere on BT's website about thoroughly investigating and consider replacing master socket yourself before reporting a fault.
