When I moved into my house (N.E Scotland) I had the opposite problem, we had a wall thermostat but no TRV's (now have them fitted to all radiators).

Our wall thermostat is in the living room & as its the place I spend most time I'm quite happy with that.
Was it really "everybody" that was Kung Fu fighting ???

A TRV Controls the temp of the ROOM it doesnt stop the boiler fireing up every 15 mins to see if the stats are open / closed.

At last - a voice of sweet reason. I can get my head round that process and whilst I am not sure as to the payback period, I will go ahead and get a wall stat in the lounge.

  • I guess Gadgee did read the other opinions - it's been going on long enough - & came to the same conclusion that energy watch et al came to - a room thermostat is a necessity & TRVs are a recommended benefit to economic heating.

<DEFENCE>Maybe too much information in the thread for the old brain to absorb</DEFENCE> but Roswell's analogy of 'Mr Boiler' sitting in the back waiting for a call from the troops switched on my light...
  • I would purchase a system from Housetech Solutions. I just have and its brilliant. Akllows programming of trvs for time and temp for each room so you are not heating rooms when you are not using them a friend of mine purchased thesystem and he has had it now for 2 years and is saving about 30 per cent of his bills per annum. The service from Housetech is also excellent...
