Which version? Are you sure it was a genuine FF release?

I have the latest 3.6.15 installed on all my machines with no issues. There is a R4 in beta too which I tried the other week although the release I used has probably been superseded.

I just read that R4 will be going to general release on 22 March anyway. The beta I tried was reasonably stable and many of my extensions worked. It is supposed to be a lot faster but I can't say I noticed much difference to be honest.

There have been no updates to Firefox itself (i.e. not add-ons) since 3.6.15 on 4 March. Are you sure the update was genuine, not malicious?

It may have been malicious,it showed an update in the usual way but as i say it all went downhill after that.I ran my security software and malwarebytes and all was ok.I also posted a log from hijack this in a different thread if some kind person will take a look,thanks.https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3117162

Not sure why it caused problems unless it didn't install properly. I'm using FF4 Rc 1 (which means they are reasonably confident it's now stable) and that's working fine for me.

"gone bananas" is a really useful piece of information.
