Orange Contract via 3rd Party Sites

My contract is ending at the end of the month and orange wont offer me anything decent so I have been seaching on other sites.

I can get the HTC Desire HD on 2 sites. buymobiles.net and phoneboxmobiles.co.uk

Both are

100 mins
250mb Internet
Unlimited Text
Free Handset

£20.42 Per Month

Has anyone ever used these sites? Seems like a good offer? I cant understand why orange couldnt offer me anywhere near this?

You must really have p****d Orange off if they can't offer anything better than that!

Minimal minutes and Internet for £20 per month???????????. Very expensive paperweight !!!
  • I was quoted £33 a month. I could buy the handset for about £150 and have it on the £20 a month contract above...

Orange sim-only are not particularly good deals. Given the latest joining of T-Mobile and Orange, would a T-Mobile deal not be better?

Vodafone have pretty good Sim-only as well.

I don't think he means a Sim only deal. 150 for a sim-free Desire HD would be the deal of the century. I think he means that if he goes for a 20 a month deal he has to pay 150 upfront.

I hope my retention deal is better than that, or I'll be off.

I used buymobilephones.net years ago to get a SE P800 when they came out and had no problems. All your dealings are with Orange anyway after the initial transaction - at least they were in my case. BMP.net are only brokers/resellers if I understand correctly. You never deal with them again after the contract is taken out.

You should pay particular attention to Buymobilephones separate terms and conditions. They will flleece you if you Change or cancel your contract before the minimum term, this includes tariff changes.

14.1.1. In the event that you are disconnected from your network for any reason within the period of your minimum term contract, you will be invoiced for the minimum sum of 240 GBP plus VAT per handset to cover the costs of the goods provided, loss of income and administration. Invoices will referred to Daniels Silverman Limited. All charges and legal fees incurred will be the responsibility of the customer and will be legally enforceable

14.1.3. You must not downgrade your tariff at any point during your minimum term. In the event that you do, we will invoice you the minimum sum of 100 GBP plus VAT per handset. The charge will be dependant on the tariff selected at the time of the downgrade.

    Not entirely true.

When you take out the phone, you are effectively taking out 2 contract, one for the supply of service, and one for the subsidised handset.

If the handset develops a fault, its Buymobilephones that will fix it, and its to them you must return things etc.

Have you asked Orange for your PAC?

You'll get the best offer once they put you through to the 'Loyalty Dept.'
