    Krafty,
Thank you for that, I will certainly have to think about moving. I am mad though that now i will have to wait at least 1 month or more for the change to happen grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
The only thing I don't like the idea of changing is that you have to sign at least a one year contract. Did you find a good saving with B.G? I find the whole process so very confusing

    Dual Fuel Discount

After listening to feedback from our customers on how complicated energy pricing can be, we have taken a bold step and from 1st April 2011 are changing the way we calculate your future Dual Fuel Discount*. We are moving away from percentages and capped amounts and rewarding you with a simple fixed amount of £120 for your gas and £120 for your electricity per year. We will show the new fixed discount amount on your bill each month and it will be added to the discount you have already accrued to date, and paid on the same date as it would have been under your existing arrangement.

    Don't forget your Loyalty Bonus

Stay with us for a full second year and you will receive your Loyalty Bonus** of 7.5% of your first year's Total Annual Spend, in addition to your dual fuel discount. This bonus will be credited to your account and payable at the end of the second year.

    That is crazy!

I have a little used annex where the gas and electricity bills for the whole year are well under £120 each.

How would that apply to my accounts?

From the posts on MSE there are plenty of other people who use very low amounts of electricity and gas. e.g. some people only use gas for cooking.

I am going crazy, I have used 4 different comparison sites putting in exactly the same details, and getting 4 different answers! It is driving me crazy. How the HECK can you calculate between standing charges, no standing charges cash back loyalty bonus. The whole system is nonsense. You need a degree to fathom out the REAL charges.
Can any one help me please?
    My annual gas usage is:17.045
    Elec. 3.959 (SWEB)

I am on Tariff V5 online First Utility I pay by monthly direct debit
Any help at all would be VERY gratefully received

The above figures make no sense, I'll assume you mean a comma and not a full stop, if you are in the SWEB area then your cheapest tariff would seem to be British Gas Websaver 11.

Thank you Penrhyn, Thank you for your reply. Yes I think I did get my comma's and full stops mixed up. (its having lived abroad for years where they use the decimal point)

    Here is my yearly usage.

    Electricity: 3959 Kilowatt hours

    Gas 17045 Kilowatt hours

My location is South Devon (Sweb) for the electric

Looks like BG websaver 11 is worth a look then, I only used Energyhelpline to check, it suggests that its around 12% cheaper than the cheapest FU tariff.

Thank you so much for your help, I have looked at the BG tariff you suggested, ideally I would prefer a 'no standing charge' and no tie in. I think they have a smart energy tariff that gives this, so doyou think it will work out a lot more expensive?
    Thanks again!

That would be online saver with energy smart, the websaver tarriff is 6% cheaper than BG standard, the online saver is 4% cheaper than standard.

After your help I have decided to go for the Websaver 11 penrhyn, thank you again for all your help.
Can you believe it I still have not had any reply to my 5 emails to First utility. What a joke of a company.
