  • Thanks everyone for the help - I'll give your suggestions a bash
  • If it is a 5G ipod aka ipod video you will not be able to use the firewire port for sync-ing, you can ONLY use it for charging.

I bought a card that plugged into the side of my laptop to create a USB 2 port as I had the same problem. If you need further details let me know and I'll hunt it out.

Try restting the ipod, by holding down the middle button, and the upwards part of the clickwheel.

    Hi Impy78,

mmm tried that and although my ipod turns off when I do this once it comes back on all the music is still there! Any ideas?

From the apple site ( http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/)
    To reset your iPod nano:

    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

    * Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.

    * If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep

  • mmm still no joy. Tried resetting the pod again & still couldn't get it to work! Tried monkeymedia, but that didn't work either.

Think i'll maybe try the pcmcia card someone suggested.

is this what I should be looking for?

    Hi Pythagorous,

Sorry for the delay in the response.
The one I have is a Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Notebook Card.

Looks like the link you posted is the same but I'm not a techie so don't hold me to it.

Good luck with it. I know I got really frustrated having loaded on my music to the PC then finding I couldn't transfer it.
