Advise about cheap flights & not using return

Hi,
I am trying to arrange flights from Glasgow to Newark for the end of next week for one adult and 2 children (18 months and 5 years). We are moving there for a while. Return tickets seem cheaper. We would not use the return part of the journey so I am not bothered when this is, just want the cheapest price for a direct flight! Is there any way to search with a set date for an outward flight but no restriction on the return flight? Also, on skysanner it shows a lot of future dates as ? for price, is there any way to find out what these prices are?? So far the cheapest flight I can find is £516 return- any advice on how to reduce this would be appreciated!

Search with Kayak, and also with LastMinute.
