The first place to try is the RECYCLE BIN, there is usually a shortcut for it on your desktop. If something has been deleted by accident then you usually find it there, just right click on the item and select restore!

Failing that do as detailed above or look in START/CONTROL PANEL /ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS and see if Word or Office is listed. If it is listed then the shortcut has been removed so go to START/PROGRAMS and find Word. To put a shortcut back on the desktop right click the Word application and Select SEND TO / DESKTOP (Creat Shortcut).

If it isn't you will need to re-install from the CD-ROM, or download and install Open Office (http://www.openoffice.org), this is a free software suite which has a good solid word processing application built in.

I think the default location for Word is:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office

The file will usually be called WINWORD.exe

It will be on the Programs menu if you've got it.

    Start, Programs.

You should also have "Open Office Document" and "New Office Document" either directly off your Start menu or on top of your Programs menu, depending on how you've set the machine up.
