Mobile Phone Number Porting Advice Please
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had experience of porting a mobile phone number from one network to another network.
Are calls from a phone on the same network charged at same network or cross network rates?
For instance, if you're on Vodafone and port a number in from 3, will people calling you from a Vodafone be charged as though they were calling Vodafone or would they be charged as though they were calling 3?
The reason that I ask is this...
Before porting my 3 number into the network I was told that I would be able to add it to my "Vodafone family" and that anybody on Vodafone would be able to call it for same network rates.
However, the number ported today and I added it to the Vodafone family thing which all went well, but when calling it from another Vodafone instead of being free under the family deal, or 5p/min on Smartplus Voda to Voda, it cost the cross network rate of 35p/min.
Could someone shed some light on this please.
Any replies appreciated.

I work for Vodafone and can help.
Once your number has been ported to Vodafone from another network, calls to this number (from Vodafone) should be charged at the Vodafone to Vodafone (and not cross network) rate.
If someone is calling your number who is on Vodafone, and is getting charged the cross network rate, then something is wrong. It could be a network error, (though none are currently reported) a problem with their account, or perhaps a problem with your number not being ported correctly.
I’d suggest contacting Vodafone so that they can investigate further. If you use the web form, at https://www.vodafone.co.uk/contactus, and use the code FIT135 in the body text of your e mail, it will be routed to someone who can help.0 -
Thanks Ian, I don't know what they did this morning but by lunchtime everything was fine!0
