Maybe that's when I got the news he had cancer.
May his memory live on and his books, CDs, workshops etc help many more people.

Yes, that was probably when you thought you'd heard it. I think it was already terminal by the time the news was released.still a SF nerd no.1:o

Hi, squirreltufty,TNG, stintasusual, jessicamb and richyrich. how is it going? Very difficult this end.
I don't think i can be SFW no:5 as i had a fag two days ago. So annoyed with myself, but smoke free since. Madness, i had got it all out of my system and smoke when i felt stressed. The bleedy thing is, that my head tells me it alleviates stress and king nicotine won yet again.:(
Hope you all are doing better than me.:TAmazon No:170 -

What a marvellous word
dawn2dusk - DO NOT DESPAIR!!!! You've had a blip, that's all. You can hang on to that No.5 tag
You have to convince yourself that , rather than alleviating the stress, cigarettes CAUSE the stress in the first place. Once you understand this it is easier to stop
HTH
Hope everyone is doing ok.....:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
Hi TNG

Yup, very well, thanks
Have just had BIL over and he and Mrs TNG were both out in the garden in the freezing cold, while I was lovely and toasty indoors. Shouldn't gloat really, but what can you do :rotfl: :rotfl:
Appropriately New Year's Eve will celebrate 5 months SF for me :T :T :T
How's things with you?:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -

The cigarettes for me are a fading memory.:j My only problem now is shifting the Christmas lard - I have eaten a disgusting amount of food so I'm on the rabbit food diet for a couple of weeks (muesli, fruit & veg... very appetising ).
I was listening to a thing on Radio 4 today and getting very wound up - They were in a NHS smoking cessation clinic, where the philosophy seemed to be to talk about 'giving up' smoking, and how hard it is. Grrr.still a SF nerd no.1:o

squirreltufty wrote:Glad to hear it - have you any idea how much money you've not spent on cigs since stopping?
Nope, not a clue. I think I'm beyond wanting to know, to be honest (that's a good thing :T )The cigarettes for me are a fading memory.:j My only problem now is shifting the Christmas lard - I have eaten a disgusting amount of food so I'm on the rabbit food diet for a couple of weeks (muesli, fruit & veg... very appetising ).
I only have two pairs of trousers that fit me. I'm off to the sales, I think.

Don't get me started    I'm sure they are in the employ of the tobacco companies and it really winds me up. "Yeah just tell people how hard it is and how they will be giving something up and missing their little crutch, that'll scare em in to carrying on smoking."
Makes I mad. I think I know how poor Allen Carr felt a lot of the time (RIP)
Oh, and sorry I haven't been around so much - change in circumstances. Glad to know that you and others have kept this thread (and others) going
Well done:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
How's everyone doing?
Gave up in Oct. been on Niquitin cq 4mg then went to 2mg last week.
Still got a real urge for a fag, but stop and think - I'll stink - my house will stink.
A friend came to mine the other day, asked if OK to light up, she did and after she'd gone had the 'orrible stale nicotine smell - got the incense sticks out.
When I feel the urge I take really three very deep breaths, and the urge goes away _ for a while!
Went to a Hypnotherapist, very helpfull, gave me a CD of session.
Can copy, if allowed (!) if you want one PM me
Glad I've given up before I'm 'TOLD' to give up next year - the 'no smoking' bans.:grouphug: A smile, a 'please' and a 'thank you' cost nothing0
