This should be illegal for age discrimination. Outrageous. My policies are based not on some economics theory, but on things I and millions like me were brought up with: an honest day's work for an honest day's pay; live within your means; put by a nest egg for a rainy day; pay your bills on time; support the police - Margaret Thatcher.0 -

Do you work for Northern Rock or something?
As I'm nowhere near fulfilling their criteria I think I'll be sticking to that "iffy" Icelandic bank and losing out on 0.01% interest :rolleyes:0 -
I had a look at this - at least I'm the right age (just!). Their online banking is a bit weird though and all I get is a little red cross.
Can someone else try please?0 -
I opened an account with them last week.Very simple and easy and i was even more impressed at the speed the money was moved from my bank to the new account, within 48 hours.Would highly recommend.
Sorry to the last 2 posters who think it is age discrimination.Come on,there have to be some advantages to being "over the hill"
We need something at our age to cheer us up when we have more years to look back on than to look forward to........................0 -

Is there still an increase to come on that following the last BoE rise, or has it already happened? If the latter, then it's not much of an improvement on IceSave's 5.45. Though handy to hear of another such account.
Mind you, when I used to have a NR online account it had a very clunky interface - perhaps things have improved now though.Stompa0 -

It's 5.46% AER in both cases.
So monthly is better

You get cheaper car insurance!
Seriously though, with the new age discrimination laws being the latest hot-topic it wouldn't surprise me if NR were told to bring this account into line with their others. Not that it bothers me in the slightest! All my savings are in a ISA! I wish i had more to save!0 -

Actually, when you start looking around there are quite a few accounts that are age related.0 -

Errrrrrrrrrrr...no I don't work for "NR or something" so your wrong on both counts, can't someone recommend something without there being a suggestion of favouritism for the company one works for. If you must know I don't work for anyone0
