Actually arrived at work one day with the front tyres still on fire :rotfl:0

I bought mine last August. Nobodies thinking about snow then!0

Now that's interesting because that Hero isn't really a winter tyre by the looks of things. I don't think, personally, that mismatching tyres front-to-rear is an issue as long as the tyres have comparable levels of grip (so having Toyo on the front, Pirelli on the back for instance as I have isn't going to cause any problems). Seems that the Heros have been good enough to keep up with the Nokians.
Shame about those A001s, Kilty
No, it's not a winter tyre, and not marked as one.
It is a mud and snow tyre though, (which doesn't actually mean a lot)

There was a lot of discussion about oversteer, but it never happened to me, the back followed the front with no problems.
Ice, snow, un-gritted country lanes, and I was out in all weathers.
It was the front of the car that gave me problems last year, the back wasn't too bad, with Michelin energys all round.
I think the answer is not to drive like it's summer, regardless, and you should be ok.0 -
Don't buy now, but make a point of visiting the usual online suppliers every weekend without fail from now on.
You'll probably notice a drop in winter tyre prices around June/July, be ready to hit the buy button when that elusive can't miss it bargain comes up...they do, and inevitably that low price only lasts a few days.
I wouldn't put Chinese tyres on my car if you paid me.
However both Hankook and Kumho now offer winter tyres, and reviews show them to be quite acceptable, if you keep an open mind you should spot that good deal.0 -

Heh... yes I did see the inconsistency there
A lot of Chinese tyres are rough, but there are a few that are OK.
Having said that I'm struggling to think of any. Hero aren't Chinese -- they're part of the Taiwanese Federal company0 -

I'm afraid I have to say, Hero, much as I will be slated for it, is Chinese. (It's on the website in the link, in the company profile)
I will agree, they do make dire tyres, but they make good ones as well now.
The Japanese used to be rubbished back in the 80's. Now they're the best.
The chinese are catching up.
It'll be even better as we take our production out there, and they incorporate it into theirs.
Avon, Cooper, Pirelli, Michelin, Kumho, Hankook, all have factories in china.0
