BT line rental increase yet again

Didn't we have two line rental increases last year and now a 3rd one in a year?
BT obviously think inflation is running very high
The last jump was 50p in Summer and one before that I seem to recall
Important price update
On 28 April 2011, we're making some changes to the prices of our products and services.
We're increasing our line rental by 30p a month, as well as making changes to the cost of daytime UK calls, call set-up fee, calling features and Standard Broadband Option 1 pricing. To find out more, visit bt.com/pricechanges
We appreciate that price rises are never welcome, which is why we're reducing the price of some of our products and services. For example, BT Vision is now at a new low price of £12.50 per month. And, from 28 April 2011, we will cut the price of our Unlimited Anytime Plan from £5.00 to £4.70 per month.

I am shocked and appalled about the BT increase, you could opt for the line rental saver and save some money that way, or get Fizz to pay the bill for you. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Am I right in thinking that BT can basically do what the hell it wants now as to regards to line rental they dont need permission from the regulator
One one hand BT recognise we are all suffering price rises yet they go and do this again, its bad enough the last increase, I only use BT for line rental, I dont use them for calls, broadband etc
This rise seems unjustifiable in my view0 -
Emailed a complaint not that it will do any good0

I too was unhappy about my BT bill which seemed to be gradually creeping up. I emailed a complaint (based on something I read on here somewhen) and said I would take my custom elsewhere. They phoned back within a few hours and knocked around a tenner a month off my bill if I agreed to another 12 month contract. So I was quite happy with that.0

I know but that doesn't mean to say a complaint isn't a valid one
Two rises already in recent times a 3rd is unjustifiable this is just sheer profiteering and nothing more. 50p rise last Summer was bad enough given 50p is a huge rise
I only use BT for landline if I switch I may loose 18866OldGreyFox wrote: »Its a competitve market if you dont like it you can move on.:D

I was offered a good deal in letter from them yesterday (and mentioned in a post above).
It is £3 per month for 24/7 calls including 0845 and 0870, caller ID and 1571 with line rental £10 per month if paid upfront which I did.0 -
I detest BT I would only go back to them if they were the last Telecom company we had or all the others were prohibitive expensive I add talk talk along with them
The only reason I stick with BT for line rental is possible aggravation I may endue with broadband and unable to use 18866. I hardly use phone anyway
I pay £12.35 for BT which I assume goes to keep network maintenance that surely is enough, BT have already upped there line rental twice in space of a year why again? It may only be 30p but thats a lot when you factor is this is 3rd increase in a short space of time0 -
