    Time for a shameless bump!

Does anyone have any more thoughts? Would be good to get some links to tiles that I can order up samples of.

    Cheers D

We put in polished stainless steel mosaic tiles as a splashback over the cooker as you still get the 'grey' colour but it is shiny so doesn't look dull and washed out. It also adds texture which adds interest and makes a feature of the cooker.
We then put plain white tiles under the wall units in the same 'brick' arranged but painted the non-tiled bits of wall light green to add some colour, and accessorised with green.

They're not the cheapest type of tiles in the world but I'm really pleased with mine - Walls and Floors.co.uk

The kitchen in our new house has tiles behind the hob - not the easiest surface to keep looking clean esp with the grout! I found a glass splashback good for the hob area in our old house, and upstands to the other areas worked much better.

Just my twopence worth, as it looks like you've got your heart set on tiles (NB if that's the case what about rectangular to complement the floor tiles)

Try Johnsons Tiles. They have a good website. Specifically, I bought their Prismatics gloss tiles in cement (that's the name of the colour). However, despite the name, they are not some type of battleship grey, but rather a very pale high gloss grey which look stunning.

Ours were for a bathroom so we went for large format, but I think they do them in all kinds of shapes and sizes from those brick shaped ones up to very large.
