Issue with new sky broadband!

OP, if you go onto your mySky page you should be able to see whether line testing(DLM) is under way.
The second thing you can do is to log on to your router and obtain its line statistics.
If you post them we can see whether you have been optimised or there is room for improvement.

OP,
Put your phone number in here;
If the speed it shows matches roughly what you are getting, even after the 10 day DLM period, then the's little else that can be done.
I entered my details and got the following, not sure which bit i should be taken notice of though?
Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial check on your postcode indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line speed up to 2Mbps.
Our check also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL Max broadband line speed of 6Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 5Mbps and 8Mbps.
Our check also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 11Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 6.5Mbps and 15Mbps.
The actual stable line speed supportable will be determined during the first 10 days of use. This speed may change over time, to ensure line stability is maintained.
Thank you for your interest.
To Penrhyn, thanks for that information i shall get & post up the stats from the router when i get home from work

This bit looks good Our check also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 11Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 6.5Mbps and 15Mbps.
Sky always try to start at 4Mb on LLU and DLM kicks in about 2.30am, usually day 2 or 3 then you should see your speed increase.0 -

Just checked now, these are the results i got:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4095 kbps 605 kbps
Line Attenuation 34.0 dB 19.0 dB
Noise Margin 13.6 dB 17.1 dB
Any feedback on these, good, bad ?

They have started you off at 4Mbps which is normal, don't switch the router off for the next 10 days, if DLM works properly the speed of the connection should increase during the training period.
With a line attenuation of 34db I'd anticipate that you would end up around 12Mbps.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I have had Sky for a year now and have been really pleased with speed/reliability (almost). During peak times....say 16:30 to 23:00 the speed slow to an absolute crawl (sometimes down to 256k).
I am thinking about switching but I don't know if that will do any good. Sky support are friendly but don't seem able to provide any solution (they say its just busy). I don't suspect a problem with my microfilter or other setup as speed is great except for this peak period.
I was considering one of hte following....Plusnet....ICUK...XILO
Help this is doing my head in with slow speeds! It is not MY fault that I never learned to accept responsibility!0 -

Are you on Sky LLU or the dire Sky Connect-you don't say?
If the latter, you can expect bad contention issues at peak hours, the only solution is to change to another ISP. If the problem is at peak hours only then it's nothing to do with your filters or set-up.
