Whats with all of the spam???

What has happened to MSE! All of the forums seem to have been attacked by spammers - isn't there a way for the mods to stop these people continually spamming - they are spoiling the site - surely there can be a way to stop them from spamming from morning until night!!

Yes, but they need an IP ban.

MSE needs to sort something out about this, why not put it so new users can only start one thread an hour? Its not a hard thing to do.

They get reported and as soon as the MODS can they are deleted and the account closed. Sometimes it just take a little longer than other.

Probably a good idea. Alot of genuine peoples first posts have been after they have lurked for a while and built up the confidence to post.

Compared to the number of genuine users who sign up for MSE it really is a very small proportion of people who sign up to spam and the abuse team are always looking at new ways of dealing with the problem.

It would be very unfair on new users seeking advice that they are penalised by being given a timetable on how or when to post especially when the email has gone out linking to various topics in the forums and inviting them to sign up and pose their questions.

Its also very unfair on board guides, you lot must be running round like mad.

A restriction of even just half an hour would be understandable, just for new threads. But even that idea is infalable, they would just target existing threads. This person must have been a pit bull in a past life, he is very tenatious.
