That may be due to those particular pages being cached on your PC...?
I had a problem with my ISP's DNS servers recently, so it might be worth giving OpenDNS a go (see http://www.opendns.com/) to see if that allows access.0 -

Although that wouldn't explain how soolin could reply to posts on this thread. Unless they're using a different internet connection just to discuss it."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

D'oh! Sorry - I'm a bit tired tonight!!! (And I'm no networking expert either, but thought I'd try to help!)
If you can access certain pages on the net, but not others, I'd try rebooting your router (if you have one), then changing your default DNS entries either in your router or by taking the steps here (assuming you're running Windows XP): http://www.opendns.com/start/windows_xp.php0 -

No worries, I didn't spot it straight away. Also I suppose if it was true there'd be no way for the OP to ever read the solutions in the replies. But I'd agree to try and reboot router."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Virgin has been getting slower and slower and slower over the past few weeks. I too am supposedly on 8megs, but if I get more than 1 at the moment it is a cause for celebration. I have had up to 5, but that was achieved at around midnight and a test just now, 23.59, showed barely 1.5 was being achieved. Pathetic really.
Virgin also had a recent problem with its email system, which it didn't tell anybody about on its customer service page. I had to phone their premium rate help line, which is usually good value, when none of my emails would go through. It turned out that their server wanted authentication of all emails, despite the fact that this is not normally a requirement. A tick in a box solved the problem, but it was THEIR problem, not mine!
Also, every time they upgrade the connection speed on Broadband, it is impossible for some subscribers to connect without having to phone the help line and get put back on the system again. For some reason, they always lose me at every upgrade.
Having said that, Virgin does, from time to time, appear to spend serious money on upgrading their service, which then works fine for a couple of years, before slowly grinding to a halt again. Time to get the wallet open again boys!!!0
