This is where I used to buy from when I fed skinners. I;d but a bag of duck and rice and a bag of salmon and rice, 30kg of food for just over £40 delivered.Sigless0 -
OP why do you want to change your dog's food - is it because you have to financially or just because it might be more sensible in the same way you'd look at cutting all other household costs?
If it's the second, then saving a few pounds might really not be worth it when you describe how well she's doing on her current diet, I'm assuming she likes it if she's been eating it for 2 years.
Really everyone has different opinions on the best foods, as you can see from all your replies, but a lot of time it really is just people's opinions based on their own dog(s). Just for example, more than one person has recommended CSJ, I used it for my dog based on what I'd read and he really didn't do well on, nothing to do with the food, just didn't suit him.
I've rambled a bit, I really just mean do what suits your dog and I don't think money should be the top consideration unless it really has to be if you're struggling to pay to feed her.0 -

I would usually agree with this. But swapping to something like Skinners isn't saving a few pounds, its halving costs. And Skinners has MUCH less crap in it.
Hills (no idea what one the op feeds, so went for the 'general' one).Lamb & Rice (minimum Lamb 26 %; minimum Rice 4 %): Ground maize, lamb meal, soybean meal, animal fat, maize gluten meal, ground rice, digest, vegetable oil, flaxseed, L-lysine hydrochloride, salt, potassium chloride, DL-methionine, taurine, L-tryptophan, vitamins and trace elements. Naturally preserved with mixed tocopherols, citric acid and rosemary extract. (en-IE)
Skinners.Whole rice (40%), duck meat meal (20%), naked
oats, peas, whole linseed, sunflower oil, beet pulp,
vitamins and minerals.
Skinners is IMO a better food, and at less than half the price.
If it doesn't suit the dog, or whatever food the OP goes for doesn'y suit. She can always go back to hills.Sigless0 -

I have 5 dogs-2x12year olds ,1 10years, 2x2 years old.
They are all fed on Dr Johns with chicken (£8.99 15kg) which they love + 1 Webbox Chub roll (55p)between them.
They are all fit & healthy & I can quite honestly say that these dogs (& my many past dogs) generally only need to go to the Vet to be spayed/castrated & at the end of their lives.
I think people worry too much. (Just look at the junk food alot of the human population consume-they would probably be fitter on the above diet!)0 -

See, personally, I don't think people, in general, worry enough.
Yes, look at the junk the human population consume, and look at the effort going into getting us to realise we need to adjust out diets or suffer for it when we grow older.
My old dog was fed on whatever was on offer, she lived to 20, and besides boosters etc, she went the vet once in her life. But then there's many, many people who eat crap, smoke, drink etc and live to a ripe old age. It's not something people recommend though is it.
As I said earlier, if your dogs are doing great, that is fantastic, and I truly hope they continue to do so (and have no doubt they will). But the fact remains, just like with human food, there's crap stuff, decent stuff, and excellent stuff. It's up to us what we put into out dogs.Sigless0 -

my border terrier used to have Hills Science plan but he is fussy and stopped eating it, then went onto Joe Ingles? organic dried food until I couldnt get it any more.
I have tried a few others such as James Well Beloved but the only one he will eat at the moment is Bakers Choice dried food with duck0 -
