Claiming directly through a solicitor

Hi

Can anyone think of a reason why someone would try and make a claim directly through a solicitor rather than an insurance company following a minor incident. There would be no personal injury issues on their part - and I'm a little wary about why they wouldn't be going through their own insurance company?

Could it possibly be because they're with a very small insurer?

Or a different reason?

Because their insurance company is useless, or has a reputation for being useless? And they suspect that their insurance company won't bother claiming from the other side or something like that...

Probably to keep the details of any incident off the insurance database.

May be related to or friend of the solicitor.

To be honest insurance companies just farm it out to factory claim firms and the chances or a qualified solicitor touching most cases is rare.

I know several cases where this has been done before - nothing wrong with it our unusual. Just prefer to deal with someone they know.

I wouldn't be so certain there are no injuries.

No doubt that 2mph minor scrape has caused massive whiplash injuries to all 5 occupants of the car. You may have only seen 1 occupant, but I can assure you the other 4 were there, honest. These injuries only manifested themselves when the other driver received an unsolicited call my an ambulance chaser promising a five figure payout per occupant. No doubt, the other driver only got the call from the ambulance chaser after your insurance company sold the details of the crash to them.

lol I don't think this guy would have the cheek tbh considering he assaulted me after the accident and was carted off by the Old Bill. If anyone should be claiming for injuries, it should be me.

I'm just a little wary, I don't trust this guy at all and was worried that he might be up to something. It's probably all fine though, as you say.

I would have thought that is exactly the kind of person who would milk a claim for every penny. Have you asked your insurance company what the solicitors have said.

If you were asaulted, and the police where there, yes, you should be.
No road rage should go unpunished, and you should start a claim against him.
