Actually I'm originally from Liverpool and I'm perfectly happy to be on the receiving end of Scouser jokes.

Would you like to buy some cheap alloy wheels, BTW?

Make sure everything electrical works properly. How far away is it from its next service?.If you plan to do mega miles, look for another. My 1999 petrol Merc has done 165k. with no probs so far.Well, apart from a bit of rust starting to show, and a new key needed.Make sure it has two fully functional ones.New keys are MB only, and currently cost £235 approx.

I have no doubt that the mechanicals will be good for another 100,000 miles. Modern petrol engines are perfectly capable of covering the miles.

My only reservation would be that the parts would be expensive on a car like this, and there will be parts that are near end of life at this mileage. But then you knew that already.

Apologies for how I came across in my earlier posts, it's because I have to use this keyboard:

  • engine should be fine, gearbox, corrosion and electrics would be my primary concerns. I've had enough of mercs, never again for me, so I'm selling my diagnostic multiplexer, does all systems on the cars, not just the engines like most scanners on modern mercs. £75 if your interested.
