I did also notice that the VW dealers have some special offers for those who like me get the War Pension to lease their Motability Car. It is in partnership with the British Legion and the MOD Discount Scheme and offers either a cash discount or a few free bits and pieces so it is worth trying for.
Interesting news, didn't know about that one, also get my car on my War Pension, thanks mate :beer:Opinions are like bottoms - We all have one, just some stink more than others
Service Attributable Pension - War Pension - War Pensioners Unemployability Supplement - War Pensioners Invalidity Allowance - War Pensioners Comforts Allowance - War Pensioners Mobility Allowance - War Pensioners Child Allowance - Housing Benefit - Council Tax Benefit0 -
Right to go back to my original topic - off to the renault dealer in Derby tomorrow, who have an auto clio hatchback I can test drive (whoopee) , and a second-hand clio estate (sport tourer !!) manual that we can try putting my scooter into.
Have a look at this, http://www.motabilityevents.co.uk/onebigday
Not sure if they are to late or to far away, but might be usefulOpinions are like bottoms - We all have one, just some stink more than others

Now, how come I didn't know about that ? Stoneleigh isn't too too far.
My current lease ends at the end of June, but Motability did say they would extend for up to 6 months if I couldn't get anything suitable in time. Hmm ...
Renault dealer rang at teatime. No test drive tomorrow, the auto clio has been lent to a customer while his car is in for repairs, and the repairs are taking longer than expected . SIGH.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -

I'm treble for typo's and not spotting them or when iPhone (which is how I often use the net as I can hold it really close and zoom in huge) likes to correct a typo by making a new word all together and I often don't notice when it does that. The funniest one was "Department of work and penguins" on a post on an RNIB page once lol. That did tickle me pink though.
Yep, I once sent a text telling someone DS1 was watching pink panties on TV. It caused great confusion as DS1 was 6 at the time. :rotfl:Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Well looks like that might be the answer, all the manufactures there and cars you CAN drive, and I'd be amazed if every car that has an auto option wasn't there. After all, it's a car show just for the disabledPlus I bet they will be more than happy to bater a bit if you said well the Ford has this and Skoda gives me that.....

Just an update for anyone who is interested (IF anyone is interested
)
Finally got to drive the Clio yesterday, and it's OK, not too unlike my (previous model) Megane. Looked at the ST and the boot space is about 2 inches shorter than mine, so the scooter won't fit front to back, but fits comfortably width-ways - just won't be able to carry DS's bike as well- might need to consider a bike rack.
I don't need to worry about negotiating for the parking sensors. By stumping up £95 advance payment, I can upgrade from the Dynamique to the top-of-the-range GT Line - which adds Climate control, rear parking sensors, electric windows in the back, electric folding mirrors and MP3 audio connection. Well worth the £95 I think.
I couldn't get the dealer to throw in anything, not even a set of mats, BUT as it's a Co-op dealership, we will get the co-op points on £16k (I've just got to work out what that actually means)I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. On a similar note - i am prepared to pay a large advance sum for an Alhambara, as i need the specs that come with the SE. However - due to muscle weakness, i could really use some of the extras such as automatic tail gate and rear sliding doors etc. This package will cost an extra £2000. My gripe is - this will in effect, upgrade the car to SE Lux specs. I would pay for the extras - but in 3 years time when it comes to changing, motability would get the trade in cost (as a Lux) but i wouldn't get any money back.
Why don't Motability see this and at least offer half the cost of optional extras??0 -

If it's 1 point per £1 spent and 100 points gives you £1 to spend then that'll be £160? I'm basing this on a loyalty card I used to have, albeit for a different company, which was basically 1p back for every £1 spent.0 -

That's a very good point, and one that I have been thinking about recently. I looked at a Skoda and the optional satnav system was about £1500 which I thought was expensive, but also I'd have to give it up after 3 years. If I paid £1500 for something else, say a TV for my living room, I would at least be able to sell that on and get something back.
On the other hand though, Motability is a charity and perhaps this is how they can gain extra funds and thus offer the cars in the first place.0
