Have a look at the Hyundai i10. There are several automatics available from the main dealers, about a year old, under 10,000 miles, £6500 to £9,000. Guarantee for 5 years from new.
  • As friendly word of advice if she does look to go with the 107, make sure she drives it because it's not strictly an Automatic! This may sound odd, but it is actually a manual gearbox with an auto function. The car will roll on hills unlike your run of the mill automatic, so make sure she is comfortable with it. She'll also feel every gear change as if it is being done by a manual gearbox. Best advise is to lift off the gas when a gear change is coming to smooth it out. Drive it for yourself as well, just so you fully appreciate the difference.

Although the pedant in me would dispute the "not strictly an automatic" bit, that is a good point. My wife wanted a DSG auto until she drove one.

She reckoned it felt weird. So did I, so we ended up with a traditional auto instead.
  • I would get her to test drive the Honda Jazz. You get a lot of car for your money and they are up there on the reliability lists.

Not sure if you would get one for the money but from experiance of a number of automatics I would say a Honda Jazz with the CVT box.

Autotrader is listing 60 of these so it's definitely an option
