My OH works nights so is often watching daytime telly. He loves the property programmes so I'm always getting helpful suggestions on how we should improve our garden, open up the spaces in the living/dining room and how to maximise our selling potential etc etc. Unfortunately, although he's very good at watching other people sort out their houses, he's quite happy to sit back and watch our place fall to bits in front of him.

At least he's stopped watching that bloody show where they spend a whole hour opening boxes! :rotfl:

Could be worse, i think there are channels on Sky which operate on a 3 hour loop for most of the day....

When it comes to the BBC i'd be more worried that they're still paying Robert Peston - the man clearly is only interested in getting his face on TV!

He obviously is translating in his head from a obscure language as his delivery is unfathomable.

Actually, I reckon if you have Sky/Virgin or freeview, you can pretty much watch CSI 8 times a day if you want.

Some of these shows remind me of Alan Partridge trying to get a new show from the Head of BBC Programming.... Monkey Tennis anyone? 'House Gift whatever' springs to mind, See My Weirdo/Flash House (the Come Dine with Me rip off) is another one. I think the obssession has passed and, much as I love Beeney, house shows have had their day.

maybe the OP does work from home-I don't know of any jobs where you watch tv all day!

Maybe the OP has a disability which stops them from working?
Maybe they are looking for a job?
    Maybe they work nights?
    Maybe they work weekends?
Maybe they are taking some leave?
Maybe they are on sick or maternity leave?

Some people are far too quick to judge.

That maybe true but do we really need this amount on? what about choice? everyone is different some of us dont want antique shows, property shows, cooking shows etc plus US crap

I know tv during day which isnt prime time will be full mainly of cheap programs but why not have some repeats of older programs for example like Lark rise, or something else at leats it gives more variety. I dont mind some repeats as long as it isnt cheap crap, quality rather than quantity any day

I avoid daytime tv. Its bad enough some of the crap on evening tv, Wednesday and Saturday are nights I avoid tv other than recordings, to be fair it isnt just BBC

But we pay the compulsory tv licence for BBC so in fact we should have better programmes on Channel 1 & 2 !! What are we paying for icon9.gif
  • I agree with the OP, whenever I have days off work sick, I'm always shocked at how crap daytime programming seems to be. The property shows annoy me because you always have some idiot going, "Well, our budget is quite small, only 1.5 million" or "Well, we decided to build our own house from scratch. Right now we're living in caravans but the kids love it, it's quite bohemian"... and other than these shows it's awful inbred shows like Jeremy Kyle! I can't believe that they're promoting behaviour like that.

  • Huh? Working from home = watching telly all day? Only if you're a TV critic!

I used to work from home and I had the TV on all day, it's quite easy to get distracted by it.

I like the property auction shows because they're always a happy ending and it's interesting to see what people do to the houses to make them more valuable. Some of the car-boot, antique, house-clearance, etc. type programmes can be good fun too - especially when something sells for a lot more (or a lot less!) than estimated.

If I find that there's nothing on then I usually end up watching something I've recorded from the previous nights telly anyway.
