Repair registry shockwave crash

Hi all,
Please forgive me as I am not very computer savvy.
I have Windows 7 and I access the internet via Google Chrome. I recently changed my security from Pandacloud to Avast, and since then my Shockwave Flash keeps crashing.
I tried uninstalling it and then re-installing it and it did work for 24 hours but it has crashed again.
Should I repair my registry? Or could it be another problem? If I should repair the registry, how would I go about it and what websites can I trust?
Thanks in advance.

Yes I did. I uninstalled Avast in the end and it shockwave worked again, so I reinstalled Panda (which shockwave used to be fine with) and now it's crashed again! I can't even look at Youtube anymore .0

Update flash and shockwave to the latest versions for your browser/s:idea:0

I've already tried updating to new versions. I keep getting told that Chrome automatically updates and I can't get any further. Sometimes Flash works and then it'll just crash without warning. My security seems to be affecting it and I don't know how to stop this from happening.0

Have you tried IE 8 or Firefox ??🍺 😎 Still grumpy, and No, Cloudflare I am NOT a robot 🤖BUT my responses are now out of my control they are posted via ChatGPT or the latest AI0 -
For some reason IE is barely even functioning on my laptop. Never tried Firefox. May have to give it a go. Really annoyed at this crashing business now, it worked fine alongside Panda Cloud before I went and changed my security to Avast. I've tried switching it back (and followed all the uninstall stuff) to no avail. Now and then it will work, but mostly it just keeps showing me that it's crashed.0

It may help to run Hijackthis from here
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/ .
Run that with elevated rights, (shift key + right click run as administrator). Then post the log here, Dont try to do anything else with HijackThis just post the log. It only takes a few seconds.

Download and run the trial version of WinASO http://www.winaso.com/
This will check your registry for errors. The trial version will only correct 10 errors at a time though, so it may need to be run a number of times.
It will also remove the remains / traces of software you have installed and removed from the registry.
Some of the experienced hands, will tell you NEVER to run a registry altering tool, and they have a point. Depending on which one you use?
I've never had any problems with WinASO, having used it for some time now, on a 'once in a while' basis. It will ALWAYS find some errors, because lots of sources keep downloading their own 'directX' files for instance, even though you will already have the file. You end up with multiple copies.
I've often installed WinASO on relatives PC's, because they've been flogging along for ages, until they almost grind to a halt. Last one I did, came up with nearly 800 registry errors, so I had to leave it for him to run, because of the time it would take to correct 10 entries at a time.
You can see where your PC performance goes, with the above example though, and why the PC behaves erratically.0 -
It's not a registry problem, or anything to do with Panda or avast. Do a google news search for 'chrome shockwave crash', or look on the forums here - there are tons of people getting shockwave crashes with Chrome over the last few days. Generally updating both Chrome and Shockwave tends to fix it.

And avoid WinASO, it's a piece of crudware, as with most 'registry optimisers'poppy100
