Experian free trial

Hi all,

1st post, apologies if its in the wrong place, im just trying to find my feet, so mods please feel free to move

I have just signed up for the experian free trial and everything looked fine, clicked on credit score and it asked me to check address info and then click an "order now" button.

It didnt tell me about any cost attached to it, nor can i find any cost through a google search.

Anyone any ideas on whether there is an additional cost or whether its included in the free trial? The "order now" wording has scared me and the call centre is closed now!

By clicking and ordering a credit score check you do pay extra. i think mine cost me five pounds (it was a few months ago now).

phone the helpline if your still worried when you can, i found them to be really helpful and friendly.

Thank you, ill give them a call this am and see. I do think its wrong for the cost not to be displayed though, and for it to be so difficult to find!

I have just spoken to a really helpful advisor who has told me that there is no extra charge. There used to be and the wording is slightly misleading.

Im happy now!! :j

The credit score does normally cost extra (don't tick the box to order it).
The credit report is included in the free trial or normal subscription.

Hmmm now you have me confused again - the guy was adamant I wasnt charged. I wonder if it included in the free trial then you would have to pay for it after?

I think it changed a few months ago. They no longer offer the service without the credit score - it's all one package now, and you can't get the ongoing service (or the free trial) without the score included. Of course it costs extra too. So the advisor was right that there's no "extra charge" - but didn't explain that that's because they removed the cheaper option.

They used to offer an ongoing service (with a free trial) which gave you access to your report, but not the (useless) credit score.

Now they don't offer that - the only package available includes the (useless) credit score).

Therefore it's also included in the free trial.

Interesting, I have the on going service through my company and it still has the Order credit score tick box option which costs £5.95. So Experian must have two versions of the credit expert service, the newer of which includes the score at no extra cost.

Would be useful to know if any other older users of the on going service still have this as a chargeable option.

The new service (unlimited reports and scores) is available to new customers and, yes, that means scores are now included in the free trial. Existing customers continue to get the previous package unless they request an upgrade.
