Well, I have just got back from picking him up so I guess we'll just have to keep an eye out for signs of scratching and the like.

He doesn't really have bedding as such. He did have when he was younger but never uses it, instead he changes his sleeping position every week or so, bed, sofa, windowsill, an old mattress we kept for him etc. etc.
  • Thornit will stop the risk of ear mites.

It's a powder that you brush into the outer part of the ear. It kills the mites and prevents any eggs from hatching.

It's status is a bit of an anomoly- it is legal to produce and sell yet there are issues regarding marketing.

Most groomers will sell it or you can goolge it.

About £7 for 15ml but it will be sufficent for one cat for many years.

A bit late now, but thanks. If he gets them again this year, will definitely look into it for next year.
  • Thornit can be used along with stronghold/frontline etc.

TBH I was not aware that they claimed to prevent ear mites. Many dogs treated SH and FL suffer from ear mites and canker, hence the regular use of Thornit

For future prosperity dog/cat Ear washes (and even, at a push Olive Oil) will help to drown bugs but wont kill the eggs.

    Good luck

Stronghold will only treat mild cases - good idea as a preventor though. If it's bad you need the ear drops...sounds like you have been really unlucky. I never had problems like this - are they changing the bedding and washing it properly between each cat? ?

No, Stronghold is actually pretty good. To use ear drops you need to treat for more than the life-cycle of the mites, 35 days. i don't know anyone who will treat a cat for over 35 days. 2 doses of Stronghold and a bit of cleaning with a proper ear cleaner at the start should be more than enough
