Will BT want their homehub back?

We signed up for bt broadband and calls at the beginning of december and paid up front in full as it worked out cheaper, after waiting over 3 months to be connected and getting sick of bt not communicating with us we decided to cancel and requested a full refund, we are currently waiting for the refund to be processed..

We were sent a bt homehub, which we have opened as bt at one point told us we were connected which turned out to be untrue. BT haven't said anything about returning the homehub and there is someone on our local freecycle wanting one but I'm wondering if bt will want it back?

I don't really fancy another call to bt as I've already spent hours on the phone to them (from a mobile) so I'm hoping someone on here can advise?

It would be nice if something good came out of all the hassle we've had with bt and we were able to give this to someone that wants it :)

They're firmware locked to BT, so only any use to another BT sufferer, sorry, subscriber.

The person on freecycle is specifically looking for a bt homehub, so I'm presuming our will be ok? If bt don't want it back that is?

IF BT can't get organised to provision your broadband in 3 months, I very much doubt that they'll be organised enough to ask for the HH back. But don't blame me if they do...

Thats what I was thinking, I think I will wait for the refund to come through before I give it to them to be on the safe side but I'm hoping once that done they wont be bothered about it. I expect they cost them very little and I doubt they would give an already opened one to another customer.

The white ones (V1) and the version A of the black (V2) ones can all be unlocked to use with a different ISP. You can tell them apart as it says type A or B on the back but otherwise they looks similar.

Personally I'd be inclined to write to BT with a registered letter giving them a month to collect it stating after that it will be disposed of. They are £100 if they decide to come for it later and charge you for if you don;t have it.

The OP should have a HH2 version B if they signed up last December. The HH3 has only be released this year I believe?
