Struggling to get a CC

Hi all.

I'm trying to apply for a new credit card, really to just transfer my balance from my card that i have now which is at 29% APR.

At the moment I'm paying off just over the minimum each month, which doesn't leave me anywhere.

How can i get accepted on these 0% credit cards or even 15% cards!?

I've tried getting my apr reduced, but they say they can't do anything

Last time i checked my score it said 999...

thanks in advance

How many have you tried applying for and when did u last check your report? Have you tried your own bank for a CC? I have 3 CCs with high APR and no one will give me a 0% balance offer either!

Must of been a month ago I last checked, nothings happened since to change that.

I've not applied for lots, only a few as i don't want it to look bad on my report.

I have a CC with my bank now, it has £100 limit (reduced it when it was paid off) they won't increase this for me.

    Such a pain!

You say last time you checked your score ,you can't check your score its impossible,Experian could of give you a score 199 it makes no difference as lenders has their own scores and won't give a monkeys what Experian has scored you and they wouldn't know anyhow.

The only people who know your score are the lenders themselves not no one else.Especially not the likes of experian who don't lend money.

Why don't you try the application checker on MoneySupermarket? it's hit and miss at best but would give you an "idea" what you're likely or not likely to get.

    "Only a few".

Three in the space of a month is enough to put nearly any lender off.

Have you tried the Creation card?

    https://apply.creation.co.uk/creation/web_channel/cards/apply/productdetails.aspx

It's the easiest balance transfer card to get on the market, that's for sure. If they turn you down, no one else will accept you I'd have thought.

They search Equifax as opposed to Experian, too, so it's unlikely they will see your prior credit card applications as most other card companies use Experian.

Good luck! And let us know how you get on :o

There must be something nasty lurking on your credit file for Creation to turn you down.

Have you scoured your experian and equifax files lately? Any defaults, missed / late payments, financial associates, etc?

    £12k + overtime
    3 years 8 months
    £1000 on Barclaycard
    £60 on Halifax card
I use my overdraft, usually in it for a few days, then i will get my wages through.
Not on the electoral roll, and won't be.

@izools - I checked it probably a month ago, a few missed payments a year or so ago. since then, I've not missed payments or been late etc.

I would imagine your biggest problem would be "not being on the electoral roll" and possibly those few missed payments - maybe your earnings being a little on the low side to ? im not entirely sure im not an expert but i do know that not being on the electoral roll is a big problem.
