Job At Currys

Options
hello everyone
I hope someone can give me a help and advice me something.

There is this job as a sales advisor at currys in my town which I applied for 2 weeks ago.
I am doing IT so I have technical knowledge and I know am suitable for the job as I have also retails and customer service experience.
I have applied through the online application form which is more like a multple questionaire form; last week i received an email saying that my application was unsuccessfull.
I really need a job and think I am qualified for it but I don't understand what they are looking for.
Now it's ok that I have been rejected but I have checked that the job is still available after a week which means they are still looking for it.

Do you guys think I can or should apply again online or just let it go?

Maybe ring HR and ask for ome feedback on your aplication and see why you were unuccsesful?? then take it from there, ask if you can re-aply for another position in the future etc

    Hi thank you
but I have sent them an email to the HRD department a week ago asking the reason of rejection and have not received any answer.
The problem there does not seem to be a contact number for the HR deparment. should I call the customer service or anyone knows the HR contact num?

Just chalk it up to experience and keep looking.

You say you are "doing IT" but that can mean a whole raft of things. I've now got 30 years of technical knowledge - I've been using, building and repairing computers for well over two decades both private and commercial. What is AS OR MORE important is that a great deal of that time has been in direct contact with customers. Sales and customer service skills are as important to a company like Currys as technical ability .

They've probably been inundated with people with more sales and retail experience than you. Curry's don't just sell computers, but if someone comes along with PC World, Homebase and Brighthouse on their CV they aren't going to believe their luck.

I know some people who work in Currys who had no previous IT skills that were any more advanced than the general computer user. The focus for a sales position in there (and anywhere) will be upon ability to make sales so they want things like top notch customer service skills, ability to build relationships, ability to work to targets, ability to close a sale, good numeracy skills, team working experience, confident and self motivated. A place like Currys will feel that the technical know how can be taught to the sales person and even then they won't need a vast amount of technical knowledge - just the ability to rhyme off the benefits and features of particular products. This isn't to put you off applying but in future applications to similar jobs it's good to have an idea of the type of skills they will be looking for and be able to demonstrate you have those skills on your application.

As far as I'm aware Currys also employs Customer Service people who don't do sales, they do cash desk work and attempting to sell insurance products to people. If it's one with PC World attached then they also employ IT technicians. So you can always keep an eye open for those types of jobs with them too.

Do you have retail experience or sales experience though as that may have been the reason why you were unsuccessful or there could be other reasons, trust me it is weird when you have experience and yet you get rejected even though you could do the job

Thank you guys for your replies.
@purplerose I know what you mean, at the end of the day it really depends on what they are looking for and if you have been able to prove that by words(cv,application, covering letter) that you havethose skills.
The position I have applied for was a sales advisor, which is not like one of those people that go around and do sales,I mean I am not really into that, their job is more to help customer that come into the stores and help them understanding the equipment or products they are buying and advicing them the best product according to their needs.
Now this is basically what I have done in previous stored(not technocal one but clothing one) such as primark, republic where I was used to stand in the store and help customers.
I have this kind of retail experience and plus I am doing software engineering which gives me a wide range of skills, especially in software side to provide better details about eletronic equipments, plus I have passion for technology which i used to my advantage to learn about other sides of technologies too (mobile phones, audio, videos) etc.

I have been able to get the email of the manager who has rejected my application as they said that is the store manager of the store where they are recruiting that does chose the employer, I have send him an email and lets see if he/she answers/

OP can i make a slight point, noticed a few errors in your last post, maybe they were accidental but if you made them kind of errors in your applicaton then maybe thats why you were rejected, im not the spelling police as im not perfect myself and made some erros
