In about 3 to 5 years time when gold is at 5,000gbp and house prices are at an avg of 80,000gbp ie half. Go read up on stagflation and it's implications for various asset classes.
I think you could be right. But we could have big inflation in the next 5 yrs then house prices would be more than average 80K but still would have crashed from present values in real terms.
PS. Just seen on your blog you have just moved

Can I ask did you buy or still renting?
Are you finally living your dream of an eco house 100% off grid on a small holding growing your own veg and raising livestock?
I remember you saying couple of yrs ago one place you had in mind you liked but your wife thought it too near to a nuclear power station.
That was before Fukeshema disaster, now do you think she was right?
Have you seen this website smeagold?

Look at that pile of old contaminated radiations suits filling that football stadium
http://fukushimaupdate.com/
What can they do with them all? If they just burn them will it make much difference because the 3 reactors are still spewing tons of radiation anyway, until they get cold shutdown.
They are saying by the end of this yr they can stop it spurting new radiation, but it has still been a long time compared to Chernobyl which was not spewing new radiation for such a long period.0 -
According to a breaking story on Enformable.com, there appears to be a new hole in Fukushima Unit 2 even as TEPCO is reporting that fission is happening there. Please stay tuned to FukushimaUpdate and Enformable for more on this developing story.

What about all the propaganda from the pro nuke crowd that they will achieve cold shut down by years end?
Seems things are getting worse not better even after all this time.
]
Traces of xenon were picked up from inside the No.2 reactor, which was previously thought to be nearing a stable ‘cold shutdown’.
Safety officials are investigating the origin of the xenon – a substance associated with nuclear fission – and injected boric acid through a cooling pipe as a precaution to counteract nuclear reactions.

Japan has more problems--read yourself. Nuke plant nearer tokyo shows signs of going into true melt down with plutonium - worst rad there is. This is the nuke that has a 3 ton "object" that "fell" into area with rad rods a year ago. Now sinking and not good. Do your own looking on youtube. All of japan experiencing process of liquefaction - look it up. Random - not good. Entire island chain now broken away from tectonic plate two miles below surface. Japan slid 10 feet east in quake of march 11. A quake of less than 8 (experts estimate) may may restart slide and might not stop this time. Next stop - mariana trench 30,000 feet deep! Plans being drawn up to move millions of japanese to states and ?? Sorry -- i can't say more than that. This is a last ditch plan. 1% chance thing i'd say. Unlikely to happen. They think japan is stable again -- not going to slide again -- unless a yu55 or something exerts enough extra magnetic pull to set off volcanoes etc around the world. More volcanoes and eq's are occurring right now than ever in recorded history. Just not any big ones (as of right this minute). There is a lot of outgassing happening -- look it up0

I can't decide what's more strange: reweird starting polls about living with your parents and then getting all freudian in them or Realmoney / Flight2Quality / TheEnigma endlessly talking to themselves using different usernames on these types of threads. This place gets odder by the day.0

So where did it come from?
What will it be like in 10yrs in Japan, will they have an idea how many people the radiation is killing? If deaths from cancer double or more will they then think about no more nuclear power and solar is the future.0 -
Is anyone old enough in here to remember Chernobyl? Tens of thousands of deaths were projected. The reality was that apart from the 31 people who died at the plant (including fire fighters), 81 people died from cancers attributed to the disaster. Chernobyl was a worst disaster than Japan by several orders of magnitude.
The problem is that no one knows what a 'safe' level of exposure is, so they set it very low. Radiation isn't as dangerous as people fear.0 -
