RBS Key Account Upgrade

I've just upgraded my Key account to a standard RBS Current account by phone. I was told that my sort code and account number would remain unchanged. Is this normal? I thought that it entailed a new account number.

9 times out of 10 you would normally get a new account number and sort code.

Remember the account would need to be opened on a scottish sort code to prevent the account being sold to santander.

Unless your willing to arrange it yourself afterwards once the account has been opened.

Your card was upgrade rather than your account thats why you have kept the same account number and sort code. Make sure you keep your card is good nick as soon the RBS group will stop issuing CGC.

I got a letter about the cheque guarantee facility on RBS cards recently, if i remember correctly even if you have a card with cheque guarantee on it, by a certain date soon the cheque guarantee facility will be of no use.

I didnt pay too much attention to it as i very rarely write a cheque.

Are they not being phased out soon anyway?

I think the RBS groups next mission is to go contactless however im unsure when that will take place to be honest. They have been trialing it since about 2007 lol
