Virgin media lied!!

Recently, I called virgin to cancel since I was paying £25 pm for broadband and line rental and this was about to rise to approx. £28 pm with the latest price rises on 1 April.
I received a phone back from Virgin a few days later and the man offered me line rental, broadband and TV for £13pm including all VAT, extra charges, etc. (I couldn't believe it, but he kept re-assuring me it included all charges). I have now received the contract and the actual cost per month is £15.74.
He also told me the contract would be for 12 months, but I have discovered now that it is 18 months.
I wanted some advice about what to do next? I do not have long to cancel this contract (the post needs to reach them by 16 March).

Do you wish to cancel or do you wish to complain that you have been mis-sold?0
-
Well, what I would ideally like is to receive what I've been sold.
What I'm worried about is that after 7 days, I might be locked in. Will they still let me cancel if I call them after 7 days and say the product has been misrepresented?0 -
Highly unlikely, especially as you knew you weren't getting what you ordered from day 1.What I'm worried about is that after 7 days, I might be locked in. Will they still let me cancel if I call them after 7 days and say the product has been misrepresented?
I don't know why you are asking for advice to be honest, because I know exactly what I would be doing if I didn't get what I ordered.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -

Hmmm, I see where you are coming from. Does anyone have any experience of this scenario and what the best course of action is?
to be fair 15 pounds is still a pretty good deal and I don't want to risk losing it. If I cancel will the deal be gone for good?0 -
If you write to cancel they may ask why, in which case tell them and then they may offer the deal that you thought you were signing up to.0

Just to update on what's happened so far (it seems to be good news):
I called virgin media and they said there is nothing they can do about it as the outbound team is separate, but the lady sent an email to the guy who gave me the offer and said he'd call back. He never did.
I called again, explained my story and the guy gave me a direct number to a manager of the outbound team.
I discovered that the situation was even worse than I had imagined. I had been put onto an 18 month contract and the discounts on my account would only apply for 12 months. After this I would pay the full fees.
The manager listened to what I said and got someone to call me back the same day. From what they have told me, I am now on a 12-month contract at £13.24 (which is close to what they originally offered me).
If there are any further problems, I shall update this thread.0 -

Unfortunately your story is nothing new.
Virgin gave me an offer a year ago and the contract at least agreed. 6 months later the bill jumps up by £11pm. When I phoned i was told my 6 months free line rental deal had ended. I had agreed a 12 months deal. I was virtually called a liar when i phoned about it.
An email to their CEO got me the deal I agreed to.
At the end of the 12 months I cancelled and got offered another deal. It was for 12 months BB and 18 months phone. They never said that after 12 months the price would jump by £6pm for the remaining 6 months as it was a half price line renatl offer for 12 months. I only found out as I was on my guard from the year before.
Told them I wasn't interested.0
