Just debating whether to try some or wait until the next update.

    Just reading the website

    'Price check at Tesco

Every week we check thousands of prices across Asda and Sainsbury’s stores to guarantee you low prices every day.
How do we collect the prices?

Asda and Sainsbury’s prices were taken from Asda.com and Sainsburys.co.uk respectively.
Prices were collected on 11 March 2011.
All products are subject to availability.'

Does this mean they will do another check on Friday or is it more regular than that?

I need to do a normal weekly shop from Tesco online as I can't get to a store.

I think I can swap a lot of our usual purchases in order to make the most of DTD but not everything. Am I right in thinking it works out the DTD based on the entire basket?

Does anyone have any tips on getting the most out of the DTD policy within a normal shop or do you think I'd be better off placing 2 different orders, one for normal and one specifically for DTD items? Even with delivery costs it might be worth it?

If you want to benefit from DTD you need to do two separate shops, as if you buy any items at Tesco that are cheaper than at Asda, this eats into your DTD as they base it on the entire basket.

Shopping online is not the best way to use DTD, as the price will be based on the difference at the time your shopping is picked (ie delivery day) not the price at the time you place the order, so if the prices change between placing your order and picking your order it could very well mess up your DTD planning. :)

Thank you, I figured that would be the case!

I've just been putting in a few different things and most of the items I need are similar, if not the same price as Asda anyway! I usually do my shop at 11pm ish (when I finally get some peace and quiet!), for delivery the next morning, I'm not sure how much chance there is that the prices will change overnight tonight?

Will have to have a proper think this evening! I am so sad, I spend a whole evening each week planning a shopping list and checking prices at different supermarkets, plus looking for glitches and offers etc, DH thinks I'm mad but I'm sure he'd notice if our food shopping suddenly cost twice as much because I hadn't put any effort in!
