Is it a NEW car?
Evening all,
Not quite money saving but I know you guys are experienced consumers!
Ordered a new car, colour was limited but they "confident they can get 1".
I believe I'll end up with 1 from the showroom, would this be acceptable as a new car? Having many ppl sit in it & touch it?
I know Currys sell off their ex-display models, as ex-display and so apply extra discount.
Thanks,

Why do you believe you'll get one from the showroom ?
Much more likely to be one that's in a compound out the back still in the protective delivery wrapping / transport wax / etc.
My new car was.0 -
you should be negotiating a heavy discount if it's from the showroom, and more so if it's a pre-reg.!!

I'm sure it will be from the compound.
Maybe my paranoia has reached an all time high. Just don't trust salespeople anymore!0 -
The likelihood is that it is either in the compound or in transit. A lot of those models may be earmarked for other dealers but if a dealer has a specific order, they can usually get hold of it.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Depending on how helpful the dealer is of course and / or how big their group is
One told me there was absolutely no way he'd be able to get the car I wanted in the colour I wanted (non-metallic, so tried to upsell me)
One said "I can get you one but it'll take a bit of searching"
One said "We've got 6 out the back....."
Guess where I bought from :rotfl:0 -
If you want a new car that is truly 'new' then tick a couple of the options boxes. They'll likely have to build it to order, it may take a little longer but it'll be factory fresh to you.
I ordered a new car last year, ticked the boxes, had to wait a few months and got a car direct to me.
Ticking the option boxes is not very MSE but having cream leather heated seats, pearl black metallic paint, no roof and a carbon fibre interior is pretty cool.0 -
What's the difference between a "truely new" car that's done 10 delivery miles and one that comes from the compound that's done 10 delivery miles?

(about 6 months if it's a VAG group car :rotfl::rotfl:)0 -
If it is in the showroom not registered it is new and it is better off in a showroom than say in a yard open to the elements.0

I disagree - it's exposed to the uncaring general public rather than sitting in a yard wearing it's transport wax which is designed to protect it from the elements in transit.0
