Garmin allows one map upgrade for free, you then need to pay for any additional map upgrade (through Garmin)

I recall buying map upgrades for my Garmin (before it was nicked)

Just use the free Sat Nav on the phone now.

Also do all sat navs need to be updated via a annual cost?
No costs involved in updating maps, speed cams, or anything else if you visit pocketgpsworld ;)

I have a TomTom XL IQ Routes 2 and it works well but I was disappointed to discover some features are not available on it. I did get a 2 year map update card for £29.95 though a couple of weeks ago which was good. Also the more recent TomToms do not have SD card slots, and some like mine only have 2GB internal memory.

Yet another plus point for the 940, it has a 20GB HDD as standard.
