Our area will be switching to digital TV later this year (Emley moor transmitter).
We have five(!) analog TV's in the house - we do use all of them occasionally (kitchen, living room, office, bedroom x2). All the TV's give an excellent pictures and we don't really want to replace any.
(Well, perhaps the TV in the lounge could be upgraded to digital HD in the not too distant future).
In the short term we're going to need 5 Freeview boxes for the TV's. I'd welcome suggestions on which boxes gives the best value for money.
Many thanks.

I bought Philips Freeview Boxes. I'm very pleased with them. They cost me about £35 each.
I tried a Sagem Freeview Box a couple of years back and ended up throwing it out as it was no use.0 -
I bought one in Tesco I think it was, some years ago - £19 and has been fine.
I got given a Philips one, cost £45, and it went in the bin after a short while as it locked up constantly.
Are you looking for HD or SD?0 -

Do you have any VCRs / DVD recorders as they'll also need Freeview boxes. And as they'll be in the same room as a TV they'll have to be a different make from the TV ones otherwise the remote controls will get confused.0

Do all of your TVs have scart sockets? Most of the freeview boxes do not have UHF modulators to output the signal to your aerial socket on your TV. Worth checking before you commit to buying. I bought a scart freeview adaptor which also can record programs onto USB and SD cards which as been useful. The EPG guide is not great but the tv this is connected to is in the bedroom as main TV has freeview built in. This was bought from Ebay @ £14 ish I think. If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you! :dance:0

No - we've got Sky+ for recording, all the VCR's have been consigned to the loft!0 -

Yes, all the TV's have SCART sockets, thought the lounge TV has two - one used by the DVD player, the other by Sky+, so where will the Freeview box plug in? Will be need an adaptor?0 -

or one that connects to the aerial socket:

I would buy cheap SD ones to keep you going.
I certainly wouldn't be spending any more than £25 (tops) for a box0 -
