Credit Card Needed Quick!

Hi
Am buying a car on Friday and suddenly realised that buying it with a credit card rather than cash (which I have) means I could earn cashback or a freebie - car is £7,500. Would any card applied and approved today on internet be with me by Friday???

    Very unlikely.

The cashback may well also be outweighed by the dealer's charge for using a credit card, which is usual.

    No!
You will have to receive, sign, and return agreement.

I bank with Halifax, went in, one of the staff and myself went through the internet application.
She printed off theform for me to sign, sent it off and i had my pin no in 4 days and my card in 6.

(another form came through the post but I discarded it because I didnt want to confuse the issue having already signed one)
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I assume from this that you don't have a cashback card already. Do you have any credit card at the moment? If not, you're unlikely to get a first one with a limit of £7500 or more.
Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

To reiterate what zx81 said, if you want to pay the balance by credit card then the dealer will most likely apply a surcharge to cover their costs on the credit card payment, which will likely exceed any cashback you could generate. They may not do this on the deposit, but they will not want to take the hit on the rest of the balance. If you have the purchase documents there you may even find reference to credit card charges somewhere in the T&C's.

As stated above, cash back would be cancelled out by dealer passing on card company's fee.

I've only had to sign and return a form with HBOS card applications - once for a Halifax One card in 2006 and once for an Aqua card a few years later.

All others have been signed online with no requirement for paper proofs :o
    Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

    How do you 'sign online'?
ALL others? How many is that?

The paper trail is not only to get your signature, but to verify the address being used is genuine.
