Blimey. If you applied on Thursday night, then they've only had 3 working days! Given them a chance....

hahaha lmao (as they say these days!!) You're quite right, of course, zx81. I know I'm impatient but as I've said before, I'm an Aries and we're not good at being patient. Having said that, I should tell me myself that, even if I'm successful for the interview, it'll be at least a week before the company lets me know :o

Do you need the cards to move house? they will come with ultra low limits if they are eventually approved.

That'd be nice, King Elvis, if I could have a lower limit the the thirty-odd percent actually quoted!

There was no real reason given but I was sort of hoping that Capital's and Vanquis' customer services would be in touch to discuss in more detail - especially as there are gaps in my UK abodes (only one year at current address ...).

I have only requested low limits anyway - £500 - as that is all I'll need for relocation costs (van for 1 day) and the actual month's rent.

Sorry, I meant ultra low credit limits...as in £200 per card

Hope it works out for you but should you really start in your new home with mega high interest debt?

    Vanquis have some horrific rates.

Are you actually intending to take cash out to pay your rent?
You do know this is a very expensive way to borrow?

I presuem you have already considered a loan from family?

Well yes, I appreciate that it could work out expensive. However, I have little to no choice as the family are in dire straights financially speaking. Also, the rent is such that I would comfortably pay off any advance payment by credit card within a month!

I have to do this in order to be eligible for the "better job"; no other options are available to me, unfortunately :o
  • I've been in sort of the same situation or the last year and a bit - moved to the UK jan of last year. I got turned down by both for very low limit cards despite working since jan 2010 in a £20k job with a reasonable amount of disposable income, vanquist even rang up and got my bank account details for a DD before sending me a letter to say I wasn't eligible. On the upside, natwest, who i bank with, just gave me a card with a £1500 limit, so there's hope yet!

Having just got back from another interview with a different company in a different location, things may change :D

It (the interview) lasted nearly 3 hours! It's better paid and it's commutable in an hour so bring it on!! If I get it, I won't have to relocate straight off so that's better. Might start looking again at Time4Leasing :D
