HTC Desire HD - Battery problem?
Hi all
I purchased a brand new HTC Desire HD from Phones4U last week. I have noticed that the device is not keeping it's charge. When fully charged, if using just a couple of apps or even normal browsing such as Facebook, within 30 minutes the battery will drain.
During the night, I left the phone still switched on after a full charge. On standbye, it has drained to over half a battery.
I have gone into settings and enabled power saver, disabled background data running. But, as I am totally new to this device, I am not sure if there is anything else that could be the problem. Could there be an issue with the battery?
Thanks all
Jon

I've got one which is about 3 weeks old and no battery problem as you describe so maybe a fault on yours.0

Have same problem with standard desire.
HTC sent new battery but still draining regularly
70% 4 hours
90% 6 hours
50% 4 hours are last 3 problems.
All overnight.
Hope we get some replies before I get on to HTC again.
Have tried same issues as you removing GPS Bluetooth Wi fi and data sync /updates to 4 hours only.
ADDITIONALLY USED 50 % in 1 1/2 hours on surfing the other night
A problem somewhere.0 -
Go into Settings -> about phone -> battery -> battery use and see what it is that's eating the battery. You should get 24hrs out of your battery easily.
Post back the findings
I also find an app like Timeriffic very useful - this allows you to set timed events, so every night bluetooth , gps etc is turned off and then restored in the morning - something like that may help - if it turns out not to be faulty0 -
Tried that but it only shows settings since last unplugged ie last 30 mins but will look at this next time it goes flat.
I did notice that one time I checked this previously it had shown gesture search as 90 % usage but not sure how to switch off.
Have it set to activate with shake so possibly this.
Thanks for help.
will report back.0 -

Hi Gordon
Thank you, I will check that app out.
Here is the data for the battery usage.
Display - 67%
Android OS - 23%
Phone idle - 6%
Mediaserver - 2%
Cell standby - 2%
I have the standard HTC screen saver running which is animated.
Also, to add to my first post, I have all vibrate functions off.0 -
Dial *#*#4636#*#* and goto battery history. If your phone has a high awake time, change the 'other usage' drop down to 'partial wake usage' and see what app is stopping the phone from sleeping.0

Think you might have a problem with your phone/battery. I have a Desire HD and althought the battery life is pretty poor I can still get at least 24 hours through medium use (ie calls, apps, internet and music). Imo I would enquire about sending the phone back to find the problem.
Also slight thread highjack but I heard rumours you could buy new batteries for the HD that hold a longer charge. Any truth in this or links to buy?0 -

Thanks Rusty
Just tried that and according to whats on screen, the Android System is shown.0 -
Charged the phone up again today and got about 45 minutes before putting back on charge. All I used was Facebook, went onto Android to get an app (as mentioned above), checked a few emails and sent a couple of texts.
I will give Phones4U a ring tomorrow as I have insurance on the mobile and try a battery swap. If the problem persists, then I am not sure where it will go next, possibly a handset swap.0 -
Get it changed as it must still be under warranty.0
