Why is our dog wetting bed???
Comments

suki1964 I came on here for a bit of advice as this is what people do, it is no difference then asking advice on what food to feed your animal! Why comment on a post if you have nothing positive to offer?
No my dh never shouts at her and my two children are teenagers so know better. She has never liked the stairs since we picked her up from the rspca, she does have bedding which she destroys so she only has a vet bed in her basket where she sleeps during the night and when we go out. She then has a separate cushion in the front room..
I wash her bed every other week which I always have since she was a pup, obviously more when she wets the bed.
I could offer you as much advice as you wanted - BUT IM NOT QUALIFIED. Ive not seen your dog, Ive not seen your family and Ive not seen the dynamics or your training methods. So anything I offer can be more damaging then helpful
And im afraid if you cant understand that, then I cant see how you want the best for you dog0 -
You have made your point suki, but I think you just need to let people get on with things. This is the internet, and there are forums all over the world that are similar, you will run yourself ragged:DI could offer you as much advice as you wanted - BUT IM NOT QUALIFIED. Suki you are being rather more of a hinderance. Some people on here are qualified and are trying to ask questions so that we can get a clearer picture and your comments are very unhelpful. Then maybe the owner can see that perhaps a few things she is doing are wrong and then can consult the appropriate person. Maybe she never thought of seeing a behavioiurist over a trainer as they are different.
If you dont like the topic, dont click on it.0 -
without seeing her, but from what you have told us, she sounds stressed and insecure. A dog that wets it's own bedding (even when it has access to other areas) may have learnt to do it through incorrect 'crate training' and/or to scent mark the bed. by reinforcing their scent in the area, they 'self annoint' so they feel more comfortable and part of the 'pack'.
Some dogs are so sensitive, they will wee anywhere if they feel under pressure (my Springer is like this and my OH still hasn't mastered the technique of not making her feel like that). If this is the case, the best thing you can do is not to put them in that sort of situation in the first place. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
No - just following the rules
You cannot ask medical advice
Asking for behavioral advice when it comes to pets borders on medical adivce
Don't be so silly.
You have to understand that this in the internet where any one can pretend to be anyone and qualified in anything and where as I dont wish to besmirch anyone, can any one of us be sure that those saying they are vets are vets, and those saying they are animal behaviorists are indeed qualified?
Well blimey I'm sure nobody but you has realised it wasn't real life - thanks for the tip, after 14 years on t'internetz I've finally had my eyes opened!
