Looks like a heat shield from your cat converter. How big is it?

I'll vote for that too !

The expense would be dependant on whether or not you could just replace the part of the exhaust that this piece fell off. Which vehicle do you have?

its a heatsheild off of your cat convertor would,nt worry too much about it as long as no cables etc are beside your exhaust :)

Can't see any cables. If I can hang on till August, when MOT is due, then I hope to have saved up enough to pay for everything. (I should never have bought this car.)

Thanks everyone, I feel somewhat better now.

Might be possible to refit it.

In the meantime, don't park over long, dry, grass.

Not that there's much of either at this time of year.

it will be fine without it, dont need it for mot or anything so wouldnt worry to much about it ,wont make any difference to how your car runs ,might still get a few years out of the exhaust yet ,and if you are worried you could always get wire and wire it back on but i would,nt bother ,less weight more mpg lol :)
