Something heavy/metal has fallen off my car :(

Driving along, heard a sudden rattling sound (hoped it wasn't my car, but it was), next thing something clunked on the floor underneath. Parked up and went to retrieve...

it's a U shape with flat bits either side (which are rusted) and holes in the bottom of the U...quite large, not huge but...

any ideas what it could be please? :eek::o

I had a look and the exhaust part I can see is fine; that was my first thought, as happened to me many moons ago. Could be further up, but can't see it. Have laid on the floor, but just can't see...

take a picture of the bit and post it on here. and tell us make model of the car.

it could be a suspension component. possibly a leaf spring clamp.

Looks like a heat shield from your cat converter. How big is it?

looks like the outer skin of the exhaust has rusted away. just means your in need of a new exhaust
