I think some people have had problems with the value Asda flour in their bread machines.

Personally, I like Dove's Organic strong wholemeal bread flour. It isn't cheap, but it gives very good results. Like rinabean I use it for ethical reasons and not simply for the results

If I'm making cakes I team it with organic butter - yummy (not the strong bread flour, but usually from Dove's range)

I like the Doves, and oddly it's not the most expensive of the wholemeal flours either. It's the wholemeal I buy on the rare occasions I can't find anything on special offer. White flour though - cheapo all the way me.

Value flour which I sift. I find that bero etc does not need sifting. For the fat, I tend to use a lower fat spread.

I use any brand of flour on offer or Value type for baking and bread. I use Value butter but I prefer the taste of block Stork for most baking.

I use whichever sr flour is on offer tbh. As far as marg goes, usually I will buy stork but have also tried the As*a best for baking which is equally as good.

I've always used McDougalls and Sainsburys Basic Butter.

I only choose the branded one as I wanted whatever I'd made to turn out well and not be a waste of time or ingredients.
  • I tend to use value or own label (if there's no value) flour, except if I need a special variety and then I use Dove's Farm.

For marg, I always use packet Stork. I would use the supermarket brand of dairy free baking fat but they're the same price and the latter is actually harder to get in my local.

Tesco own (not value) flour and unsalted value butter go towards making very nice cakes :)
