I followed a number of the links on both the searches that I posted and none of those pointed to regulations to back anything up either.

If you track through them you "might" find somewhere/something to help your cause, (for example ebay have a guideline for sellers to not overprice p&p) perhaps Amazon have one too. Somewhere.

Edit: There's a thriving cottage industry where individuals sell books for one penny each on the marketplace and take their profit from amazon's p&p policy. The opening post in this old thread, therefore, may be of some interest...

Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. • Thanks for reply, I seen the jiffy bag in my post office that the small item was put into it cost £1 also that leaves £2.61 for the person to take to post office

And if the seller was VAT registered, you have to deduct £1 from the £4.99 P&P charge (20%).
This then leaves £1.61 for handling. (time taken for packing and delivery to the Post office).
£1.61. Hardly an excessive markup, especially if the seller then has to pay tax on their profits.
