My OH has said she doesnt want to breast feed, so it will be bottle fed. Thanks for all the tips. I will perhaps keep the vouchers until after the birth and go from there0

i bought 2 packs of nappies... the shops will still be open after the baby arrives stocking up on nappies and wipes is a bad idea IMO when there are so many other things you'll need. They are so bulky and always on offer somewhere.. we have found boots nappies best for this one.. I used pamper and tesco for the others.. and of course my lovely fluffy washablesLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

You really can't guess ahead with these things.
My daughter was 8lb 12oz at birth. She turned 5 months old yesterday and is only just about to move into size 3 nappies. She's solid but petite (with a dinky bum!).
I spent months researching cloth nappies and bought a lovely set of Itti Bittis (with just the free disposables you get vouchers for). But baba is very sensitive to texture and hates the feeling of damp nappy against her. So it's either disposables or hourly nappy changes!
Huggies were rubbish for us - I gave them to my goddaughter for her dolls in the end. Even with baba sleeping 11hrs plus each night, we've never had an issue with Pampers. (Costco sell at the best price)

I think that is best. When they go through growth spurts, they can go up a size very quickly. Also, when nappies start to leak too much then you need to go up a size for the extra absorbency and you can't predict when that will happen. Oh, and you never know what weight baby will be at birth - some are surprisingly small or large. You might actually need the premie size for a few weeks or go straight into a larger size! You can't really judge by the bump.0 -
I have bought 7 packs of 27 Pampers size 1 nappies as they were on special offer. I haven't got any size 2's, but may get a pack just in case.
I have heard that newborns can go through around 10 per day during the first few weeks. So thought I'd get a few packs in so we didn't have to go to the shops so soon.
I will try all other makes as well, but Pampers seem to have a good reputation and they were on special offer, so thought I'd get them. Coudn't believe how small they are0 -
My baby girl is 15 weeks old, about 14lbs and still in Pampers size 2. I bought loads of nappies before she was born (about 2000!) to stock up when they were on offer and was told to only buy a few packs of size 1 & 2, so I bought mostly size 3 and 4. I've had to go out and buy size 2 as they fit nice and snug. The size 3 has so much extra bulky nappy between her legs and the tabs need to overlap in the middle. She is BF and for the first 6 weeks got through 10 nappies a day (so 420 size 1s were needed). She was 8lb 4oz at birth so not overly small.
On a MSE note, smaller nappies are cheaper, so if they fit your baby, you are better off using the smaller size.0 -
I would not advise stocking up on nappies, in particular the smaller sizes. Firstly you don't know whether your baby will be a big baby or a small one, and so you might end up getting a whole load of nappies that won't fit at all (same with clothes). Also, in the first months baby will go up through the sizes rapidly and you might find that they are only in size 1 for a few weeks.0

I agree not to stock up as you don't know if the baby will get on with what you have. Personally, pampers are the best for us, huggies come undone and aren't the right shape and problems with nappy rash with cheap nappies (supermarkets own brands).Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you are usually right.0

I have found the Pampers dry baby nappies great for over night, she hates a wet nappy with a passion and started to sleep through as soon as we changed to these at nighttime at 2 1/2 months old. Very happy to find them on offer at the Co-op today, big pack for £4.99, if you have voucher for any pampers nappies - even better!!! Although I would say just buy one pack of size 2 or 3 then see how you get on with them.
I stocked up when pregnant and now have 400 size 3 huggies nappies which don't fit her anywhere near as well as pampers do.0 -
i originally stocked up on newborn when i was pregnant only to find after having my girls i needed prem nappies i would say just a couple of packs to start with and maybe one of next size up just in case. i used pampers to begin with with both of mine and then as they got bigger i used a mixture of boots own and tesco's and finally lidls pull ups all great:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0
